Crowd Surf

WHERE

DID YOU GUYS GROW UP

PAT –

I grew up outside the city I was actually in Oakville. Yeah I know

pretty lame for a place where you can't really find punk. But then I

moved here eventually and I really like it.

JULIANNA

– I grew up in mississauga but my whole life I was back and forth

in Toronto, went to school downtown so always been around in the

city.

DYLAN

– I grew up in Milton, that's all i gotta say. Good ol' Milton

HOW

DID YOU GUYS MEET//WHEN DID YOU GUYS MEET

PAT –

Julianna's actually my sister in law so we're related. Julianna was

playing bass before and I asked her to be in my band. She kind of

knew about me from other bands I was playing in.

Well

I knew about you besides from the other bands. I had learned to play

bass guitar, I taught myself during covid quarantine. When patrick

found out I was learning to play he's like do you wanna be in my

band? And then Dylan they knew from like years and years before.

DYLAN

– I met Pat at a houseparty in Milton, nearly 15 years ago? Like 12

years ago.

RELEASED

5 SONGS LAST YEAR – WHICH SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

PAT –

For me it's Jane. I think I wrote the best lyrics on that. All the

other lyrics are kind of nonsense but I really like that one. What do

you guys like?

J –

I also really like Jane. Not to copy your answer but, when I think

about playing the parts and meeting with Patrick to go over the notes

and really getting the pattern down and learning how to play it

properly I feel really proud of that one the most and I love playing

it.

D –

Also Jane.

P –

Awesome. I didn't know that.

D –

Especially after the production. We did a lot of production on that

track now so it's completely different than when it was first

released and it's just my new favourite.

J –

You've gotta think about it from the first demos

P –

Yeah from the ones I made in my room

ARE

THE DEMO'S RELEASED OR ARE THEY PRIVATE

P –

Demo's are up they're on all the streaming platforms. That's how we

show people what we actually know how to do.

SONGWRITING

PROCESS IS THERE A MASTER SONGWRITER

P –

Yeah I'm the workhorse. I just do the acoustic stuff and then after

I'll make a skeleton on logic and I'll send it over to them just to

hear what the demos sound like.

YOU'RE

WRITING AND WORKING WITH SOME OTHER PEOPLE IS THERE A NEW ALBUM'S

WORTH OF MATERIAL?

P –

We're doing three more songs. Nebraska, Jane and C'est la Vie. One of

them is from our demo. We're just doing another single with the three

songs.

WHO

SUGGESTED TO REACHING OUT TO NESTOR AND ZACH

J –

Patrick sent some demos via instagram to Nestor. He really digged

Jane then I guess it was back and forth. Him and Zach wanted a

project, and they reached out to us and we recorded some music with

them. It was probably the best experience I've ever had, I could say

the same for the other two. Theyr'e the nicest people, so

encouraging. You learn so much from them and they're amazing to work

with.

P –

We knew them because J and I were in the Paranoid PUP music video.

That's how we met them the first time. So we talked to them there and

kind of became sort of friends I guess? I don't know maybe they don't

really like us..

WHAT

IS THE BEST BAND TO CROWD SURF TO

P –

That's why we named the band Crowd Surf, it's Pup.

J –

PUP. The first time I ever crowd surfed in my life was at a Pup

concert in I think 2016 or 2019 one of those shows. Someone scratched

out my contact I crowd surfed like 3 times that night. Maybe two

years ago or last year P and I were at the Hamilton beer festival we

saw Pup and we were crowd surfring and afterwards we like CROWD SURF

that's our band name. We just love crowd surfing especilally for Pup.

They're our favourite band.

D –

Probably Pup. That's all I gotta say. I mean I don't crowd surf.

J –

You gotta!

P –

You gotta do it once.

D –

I kind of do the whole arms crossed at the back of the place. So I

don't get hurt.

J –

We gotta throw you up there.

IS

THERE A MESSAGE THAT YOU HAVE FOR YOUR AUDIENCE

P –

Get ready for new tracks that are coming out we are really excited.

We got the demos today they sound really cool. We sound way better

than we thought they were going to sound. We like having fun and

playing punk music.

J

– Thanks so much for your support we hope you like the music. It's

been a blast getting to play shows, record and we hope you enjoy it!

D –

Ditto.
